What is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ thinking at the moment?
Will we not be curious to get a sneak peek into the mind of the One, the Alpha and the Omega, the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of the universe, the One who named the stars and calls each of them by name?
Do we not want to understand the way Job wanted to?
Job 23:3-5 AMP [3] Oh, that I knew where I might find Him, that I might [even] come to His seat! [4] I would present my cause before Him and fill my mouth with arguments. [5] I would learn the words which He would answer and understand what He would say to me.
Should this not be our deepest desire (for those of us who were born again in Christ Jesus)—to know Him as our friend and converse with Him like a friend to a friend?
We are so privileged. We are not in the era of Job; by grace we are transformed to a new life in Christ Jesus our Lord, to a new grace which was not available to the patriarchs of old.
Jesus said
John 14:16-17 CEV [16] Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you. [17] The Spirit will show you what is true. The people of this world cannot accept the Spirit because they don’t see or know Him. But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you.
John 14:20-21 CEV [20] Then you will know I am one with the Father. You will know you are one with me, and I am one with you. [21] The person who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him [I will make Myself real to him].
Jesus makes Himself real to us through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit as we continue to obey Him in keeping His commands.
The Spirit of God bridges the great and deep gap Job was experiencing and expressing in agony: Oh, that I knew where I might find Him.
1 Corinthians 2:10-12 AMP [10] For God has unveiled them and revealed them to us through the [Holy] Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things [diligently], even [sounding and measuring] the [profound] depths of God [the divine counsels and things far beyond human understanding]. [11] For what person knows the thoughts and motives of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So also, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. [12] Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God.
Now I hope we have the answer to our title question.
1 Corinthians 2:16 AMP [16] For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes].
The Holy Spirit is the mind of Christ.
