Open the Eyes of My heart Lord:

Do you desire to see Jesus Christ, the Lord God and Savior of the world? Who would say no! While not everyone has had the chance to see Him in flesh and bone during their lifetime, everyone in Christ will surely see Him face to face one day.

I Corinthians 13:12 (NKJV)

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

Historically, many witnessed the risen Lord. These are not just stories; authenticated references are found within the Scriptures.

I Corinthians 15:3-8 (NKJV)

[3] For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, [4] and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, [5] and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. [6] After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once… [7] After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. [8] Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

However, the Lord emphasized to them—and to us—that we should know Him primarily through the Holy Scriptures.

Luke 24:45 (NKJV)

And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Why is it important to know God through His Spirit-inspired Scriptures?

It is important because God is infinite, unfathomable, omniscient, and omnipotent—the Alpha and the Omega. He sees the end from the beginning; He Himself has neither beginning nor end.

Consider this: as humans, we cannot even fully comprehend our own galaxy. The Milky Way alone contains 100–400 billion stars, many of which have planets. In the observable universe, astronomers estimate there are about 2 trillion galaxies. We can only see up to 46.5 billion light-years in every direction; beyond that, light hasn’t reached us yet. Some cosmological models suggest that the universe is tens or even hundreds of times larger than what we can observe.

If God’s creation is so majestic and incomprehensible to humans, how much more majestic must God Himself be?

For this reason, we must be diligent to understand God through His Word, the Holy Bible. This leads to true knowledge and understanding of the Lord, as emphasized by Peter and Paul—even though both of them had seen the risen Lord face to face.

II Peter 3:18 (NKJV)

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Ephesians 1:17 (NKJV)

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him…

While may the Lord graciously grant us to see Him face to face on this earth, let us nevertheless be diligent in growing in the knowledge of the Lord through the Scriptures.

Hebrews 4:11-12 (NKJV)

[11] Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest… [12] For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Do Not Be Deceived

Do not become discouraged or swayed when you hear people claiming the Lord appeared to them, had breakfast with them, or when they speak of unending private visions. Jesus warned us about this:

Matthew 24:23-27 (NKJV)

[23] “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. [24] For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect… [27] For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

We can live with someone for years, seeing them every day, yet still remain lonely strangers. But this will never happen with our loving Lord Jesus Christ.

His invitation is for all:

Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)

[28] Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls…

Jesus is gentle and humble in heart. He always pays complete attention and lends a listening ear to us. That is why He says to weary souls: COME.

Choosing the Good Part

Consider the story of Mary and Martha. Mary sat beside the Lord, continuously listening to His teaching. Seeing this, Martha raised a complaint.

Luke 10:41 (AMP)

But the Lord replied to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered and anxious about so many things;

Jesus knew everything running through Martha’s mind and the condition of her heart.

Hebrews 4:13 (NKJV)

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Let us instead capture the good thing that Mary took hold of:

Luke 10:42 (AMP)

but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part [that which is to her advantage], which will not be taken away from her.

Jesus urges us to spend more time with Him through the Scriptures so that He can revive, renew, and refresh our souls.

1 Peter 2:2 (AMP)

like newborn babies [you should] long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may be nurtured and grow in respect to salvation…

Let us grow in the likeness and image of God by knowing and doing His Word.

Matthew 13:12 (AMP)

For whoever has [spiritual wisdom because he is receptive to God’s word], to him more will be given, and he will be richly and abundantly supplied…

May God bless you.
