Genesis 5:24 NKJV
[24] And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.
Genesis 6:9 NKJV
[9] …Noah walked with God.
What does this mean, Walking with God?
Is it humanly possible to walk with God every day?
What was so special about Enoch and Novah?
Let us explore…
Enoch had this testimony that he pleased God.
Enoch did not see death!! Amazing! He was taken in flesh to heaven!! Wonderful!
Before he was taken away, Enoch had this testimony: that he pleased God.
How can one walk all his life pleasing God? That too for 365 years. Ok, let’s take it 300 years, because Enoch became a family man at the age of 65 .
Genesis 5:23 NKJV
[23] So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
Now let us see the life of Noah.
Here is a similar testimony to Enoch.
Just man, perfect in his generations.
Genesis 6:9 NKJV
[9] This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
Can we walk with God all our earthly life, pleasing God, being just and perfect?
If we desire, is that too hard for the Lord?
Like Peter did! That, which is humanly impossible, to walk on the waters.
Peter desired , asked, and walked on the waters, by Faith.
Why do we say Faith?!
Because when Peter started drowning and cried for help to Jesus, the Lord said this…
Matthew 14:31 NKJV
[31] And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Let us also look for Enoch and Novah in the New Testament.
We can find some insights from the author of the Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 11:5 NKJV
[5] By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
From the days of Adam and his generation as mentioned in Genesis chapter 5, everyone lived a long life—800 years, 900 years, and so on—but none of them had this testimony that they walked with God. Here Enoch lived only less than 1/2 of the life span of his forefathers but carried a commendation that he pleased God and walked with Him.
And he not only walked with God but also ordered his children in the ways of the Lord so that his great-grandson Noah followed his footsteps.
In Noah’s days the whole world was wicked, and terrible sins prevailed. On one hand, the earth was getting filled by human beings, and on the other hand, God saw the wickedness of men was great on earth, and every intent and thought of men’s hearts was only evil. God was grieving that he should not have made human beings and is contemplating destroying everyone, even the animals and reptiles.
(Genesis chapter 6:3-7).
But in the midst of all this chaos, there lived a man called Noah who carried a commendation that he was just and perfect in his generation.
Following in the footsteps of our patriarchs of faith, we believers can also walk every day with God, pleasing God.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
[6] But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Amen.
Every believing Christian is entitled to this privilege of walking with God all through their life journey on this earth and carrying on to eternity.
‘The Just shall live by Faith’.
Galatians 3:11 NKJV
[11] But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
Whosoever we are, it is possible to walk with God, spending time learning about Him through the scriptures, knowing God and His heart, and we shall be like David, Man after God’s own heart.
It was made possible by the Lord Jesus himself; His love, His grace, and wonderful mercies made this possible.
May our good and merciful Lord Jesus Christ grant our heart’s desires to walk with Him, pleasing Him every day by faith in His name and in His word.
May the Holy Spirit of God lead us and guide us into all the truth in the Bible, to seek the Lord diligently every day and grow in His knowledge and wisdom, and to lead a practicing Christian life.
Let our light shine for Jesus. Amen.
Recently I was hospitalised thrice in a span of 13 days. I couldn’t even seek prayers from my known circle. It was like home calling so much so, when I got admitted to the emergency room for the third time, I thought, Ok, this is it; I am on my way to heaven.
On one side I thought it was good I depart to eternal rest; on the other side I was thinking, No, there is some more left to be done here.
I became tired in my spirit, like there was no more faith left for me, and a lot of doubts came into my mind.
But in the midst of all that chaos, the Holy Spirit was filling my heart with songs of praise and prayers.
Between my second and third hospitalisation, I was in my daily devotion studying the gospel of Matthew, and the Lord showed that even John the Baptist had this struggle when he was in prison.
And encouraged me that in the midst of trials I should not be doubting but believe.
Matthew 11:6 AMP
[6] And blessed [joyful, favoured by God] is he who does not take offence at Me [accepting Me as the Messiah and trusting confidently in My message of salvation].”
Throughout the study from the book of Mathews, I could come across many instances where it mentioned that. Jesus healed all their sicknesses.
Matthew 14:14 NKJV
[14] And when Jesus went out, He saw a great multitude, and He was moved with compassion for them and healed their sick.
Matthew 14:36 NKJV
[36] and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.
Matthew 15:30 NKJ
[30] Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them.
Every time I came across those scriptures that said Jesus moved with compassion and healed all their sickness, my faith within me also grew.
My friends and relatives poured their hearts in fervent prayers , visiting in person, over a call, praying, encouraging and supporting me with all possible help.
Thanks to the Lord ,I got discharged from the hospital and recovered well.
Thank you, Jesus.
Dear readers, I encourage you to put your trust in the Lord Jesus. The Lord always helps us; He is our number one well-wisher.
Jesus loves you.
