Look at the words of Jesus in John 12:47:
“If anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.”
Jesus’ primary mission was—and remains—salvation, driven by the Father’s relentless love (John 3:16).
Look no further than the thief on the cross. Suspended in agony, having shed much of His blood, Jesus heard a dying criminal make a simple confession of faith. The man didn’t recite a formal sinner’s prayer; he simply recognized who Jesus was. The Holy Spirit touched his heart, and Jesus responded with an astonishing promise:
“Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43)
The thief entered paradise alongside the very God who created it.
That is the heart of Jesus: a heart full of compassion that recognizes even the smallest flicker of faith. It is a heart that builds, encourages, and restores.
As the prophet Isaiah declared, “A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench” (Matthew 12:20).
So why is this tender, saving heart so rare in today’s preaching?.
Have We Misdirected Our Holy Anger?
Too many pulpits today are quick to hurl warnings, threats, and condemnation at fellow believers and the world around us. It is far easier to shout, “Sinners, repent!” from behind a microphone than to lean into someone’s pain and say, “Jesus loves you. Will you give Him a chance?”
What if our preaching inside the church focused on building faith, hope, and love instead of condemnation?
The enemy has subtly deceived Christ’s soldiers into turning their anger against the wrong targets. We turn on our families, our fellow believers, and our coworkers in Christ’s vineyards .
Instead of praying for our political governors as Scripture commands so that we may live peaceable lives and see all men saved (1 Timothy 2:1–4), some pray against them, seeking their destruction.
When we attack people, we fall right into Satan’s trap of division and hatred.
Direct Your Warfare Towards the Real Enemy
It is time to realign our spiritual focus. True spiritual warfare begins when we recognize who we are actually fighting:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
People are not your enemy. Your co-workers, , your family members, governors and your church leaders are not the enemy. Satan is the enemy.
Christ has already disarmed the principalities and powers, triumphing over them at the cross (Colossians 2:15). As blood-washed believers, our call isn’t to fight people, but to put on the armor of God, stand firm against the devil’s lies, and tear down his strongholds.
Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee (James 4:7).
The Harvest Is Outside the Four Walls
When we regain the heart of Jesus and direct our spiritual battle toward the real enemy, it naturally compels us to step outside.
There is a tragic sight in modern Christianity: the “merry-go-round” evangelists ,preachers confined to a church auditorium, speaking week after week only to those who are already saved. Meanwhile, church buildings around the world sit half-empty or get sold off because the surrounding community was never reached.
We host indoor prayer meetings and fast for revival—which are good things—but real revival requires action:
“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14)
Jesus told us that unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone (John 12:24). We cannot stay comfortably buried inside our church buildings.
Arise: If Not Today, Then When?
What would happen if every believers made a commitment to take the heart of Jesus outside the church walls?
- What if you resolved to reach out to just one unbeliever each day?
- What if you shared what Jesus has done in your life and offered to pray for them on the spot?
The Lord is opening doors of opportunity right in front of you (2 Corinthians 2:12). You carry the fragrance of Christ to a world that is hurting, broken, and desperate for grace.
If not today, then when?
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.””
Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV.
Arise! Walk in the newness of Christ. Direct your anger at the real enemy, carry the light of Jesus to the lost, and let’s gather the harvest together.
